Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13. This holiday is about female friendships and celebrating those special friends you have in your life.
The term Galentine’s Day came from the show Parks and Recreation. On the show Leslie Knope defines Galentine's Day as "the best day of the year." What I love most about this day is that it’s not an anti-Valentine's Day…no bitter Betty, it's a positive day to celebrate friendships.
Today I want to share a few ways you can celebrate during Covid:
Create a Galentine’s Day goody bag for a good friend and leave it in the mailbox or on their porch! The bag can include wine, chocolate, face mask, a gift card, etc.
Order a nice dinner and have it delivered or go pick it up.
Have a self-care night. Do a facial, paint your nails, give yourself a pedicure, etc.
Buy a new pair of pjs, get comfy and watch your favorite Rom-coms. One of my favorites is Sweet Home Alabama. I have seen it a 100 times, but I still watch it every time it comes on.
Indulge in lots of sweet treats. Calories do not count on Galentine’s Day. You could make a really cool sweet charcuterie board or order one.
Find a virtual wine tasting or cooking class and invite your friends so you all can take it together.
Create a playlist with uplifting female-empowering songs and have a dance party. Ex. Run the World by Beyoncé, Beautiful by Christina Aguilera or Good as Hell by Lizzo to name a few.
Play BFF trivia. Have each friend write 10 questions about themselves, with four multiple-choice answers for each question. Ask each other the questions, and write down your answers. When you're done asking questions, tally up who got the most questions right. The winner gets a gift card from their favorite store.
Virtual Bar Crawl - Hop on zoom, choose a girly cocktail and make sure everyone has the ingredients or have everyone get the same variety of canned cocktails for minimal effort. Either way it will be tons of fun.
Zoom Baking - Tell everyone what you will be baking beforehand so they can get the appropriate ingredients. That way, you can go through the motions at the same time.
Host a virtual game night - Download the Houseparty app. They have great games.
Feel free to add to the list. Are you planning to celebrate Galentine’s Day? If so, what’s your plan?
As always, thanks for reading and make sure to find some joy today especially on Galentine’s Day,
