I was listening to Gabrielle Union’s book “We Need More Wine” and in the book she begins to see a therapist/coach and one of the things the therapist asked Gabrielle to do was write 10 things that made her happy.
I decided to see if I could and guess what I couldn’t. Well, let me say it wasn’t ten things that I thought were worthy to be on a list. Example cupcakes were on my list, but as I’m on this journey to grow it needs to be deeper. These are surface things I want it to be a significant list, one that has meaning, not a list full of food and material things.
The key to happiness and success as I see it is to find joy in things you can’t buy because as we all know it can be taken away at any time. I want to make sure I’m happy with or without these material things.
What I learned from this list is I need to dig deeper. If I wake up tomorrow and my house, car, job, etc. is gone what am I left with?
I want to make sure that I become the best possible version of myself, so I am going to see a therapist.
Before you all think I’m about to jump off a building I’m not, but I want to do all I can to make sure the rest of my life is the best life.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not letting cupcakes go, but there is definitely more to life than cupcakes.
My first appointment is next week, and y’all know I don’t keep secrets, so I will keep you updated with my progress.
Until next time,
