Covid ruined many vacations. If you recall, I was supposed to go to Paris in March but Covid ruined that. Since March I’ve been working from home and not going anywhere. I also stayed with my parents a little over 2 months helping out as my dad was having some health issues. He’s much better now. But anyway, let’s just say I needed a vacation really bad.
I typically feel like a beach or some fancy resort is the only kind of vacation that makes sense, but with Covid still running rampant those were not an option. A friend recommended Asheville and I said absolutely. It’s a short drive from Nashville, so it made sense. No flying. We booked a house through VRBO. The house was perfect. It was up in the mountains. It had a rustic feel and beautiful views. I felt like a Hallmark Christmas movie could be filmed there.
We didn’t plan much because all we really wanted was a change of scenery and time away. But you can’t go to Asheville and not visit the Biltmore. The Biltmore was super cool to see. The gardens are gorgeous. But be ready to walk. I got my 10k steps in plus some. But it is definitely worth it if you every visit. And with the ticket price you can do a wine tasting at the winery. You can taste five different wines. I actually found a wine I liked that wasn’t sweet.
Asheville has been added to my list of one of my favorite places to visit. I want to go back for Christmas. I just know it is gorgeous.
Asheville taught me that a great vacation can be super simple. You don’t have to have a beach or a fancy resort. You just need good people, a cute house and good food to have a great vacay.
Where are some places you, have visited that, aren’t the norm when you think of a nice vacation?
