Unless you were under a rock or are a new follower, you know I attended Alt Summit a little over two weeks ago in Palm Springs, CA. I wanted to attend for years, but the way my account is set up it wasn’t workable. They called for volunteers and late one night I was like I’ll apply they aren’t going to choose me. On top of that I applied to be a social media volunteer. Y’all know my following is small, so I knew they wouldn’t pick me. News flash…they picked me LOL!
Overall the conference was fun. I met some cool people, learned some new stuff and was in a gorgeous place. Now, were there a lot of things they could have done differently? Absolutely. Would I go back? Probably. But I wouldn’t stay six days. That was too long. I would do a few days at the conference and then visit other parts of Cali.
I could tell you all the things that I felt went wrong and/or what they could have done better but instead I’m going to share why I’m glad I went and lots of pics.
I attended several workshops as you can imagine in six days. They also had sessions where you could “Ask an Expert” on specific topics and you got one on one time. I thought that was pretty cool. Below are a few sessions I attended.
Ask an Expert Topics I Attended:
· How to Elevate Your Digital Brand
· How to Secure a Sponsorship with a Small Following
· Organic SEO for Organic Results
Workshops I Attended:
· Brands & Influencers: Creating the Perfect Marriage
· 5 Surefire Ways to Create an Authentic & Concrete Marketing Plan
· Intro to Stop Motion
· Ultimate Purpose of SEO
· Elevate Your Selfie
· I Don’t Know What to Write
· Instagram by Design
· #RelationshipGoals: When Brand + Influencer = Love Match
I’ll be honest, I haven’t had time to digest all the information yet. I have a notebook full of notes, but haven’t had time to go through them yet. But even with that a lot of the workshops and Ask the Expert I sat in my light bulb went off or I said “Didn’t know that” a few times so I learned some things for sure.
We also had a night we got to “shop” from different brands. We could get something from five brands. That was tough, but I went with things I was going to use. A couple of my gifts were a statement tee and a coffee mug with my initial. If you know me, it makes sense.
At the end of the day the conference wasn’t perfect, there were a lot of flaws, but I made some good connections and who knows where they can lead. Perfect example…someone I met last year at a “blog” conference reached out to me yesterday to work together. We met in August of 2018, and she said she has followed me since so you never know where a random connection at an event will lead you.
One last thing… a big take away for me was meeting Constant Contact. They are a company that helps bloggers and others with newsletters. It’s user friendly and they have great customer service. With the way social media is acting I definitely need a newsletter to stay in contact with you guys because my page could disappear at anytime. So, FYI, I will be stalking y’all soon to subscribe.
Thanks for reading…I know this one was a little long. I tried to break it up with pics. LOL!
